Slavica Novak Nikolic, R.A., LEED AP BD+C, has been practicing architecture in NYC for over 15 years. She has been leading a boutique design studio Urban Bond Creative, oriented to unique design and service in residential markets with occasional projects in the commercial sector, adaptive reuse, restaurants, and offices.
Ms. Nikolic's residential portfolio includes notable apartment combinations and townhouse gut renovations, featured in different “how-to” and design blogs (sweeten, apartment therapy, houzz.com) and in an international publication. Residential projects are especially important to Slavica because of her design philosophy of co-creation and design as a tool for a more conscious living.
In commercial and institutional design Ms. Nikolic is regarded for her professionalism, technical knowledge alongside her always-fresh design approach where solutions always exist once a vision is clear. Most recently she lead a complex midtown landmark retrofit (St. Sava Parish House) from the programming through different stages of LPC and DOB approvals and reconsiderations, to modernize a 170 old structure with new mechanical and fire protection systems, a new elevator and stair structure and gut new interiors for a modern event space use.
Other notable clients include Paracademia Harlem Music School, Malibu Restaurant, the Sound Lounge offices, etc.
Prior to founding Urban Bond Creative, Slavica worked at NYC School Construction Authority (SCA) as a Building Code Compliance consultant where she worked on plan reviews and code compliance assessments and reports, consolidating a code regulation expertise.
Prior to SCA Ms. Nikolic worked on large hospitality projects at Jeffrey Beers International (Cove Atlantis Bahamas, Fontainebleau Miami) and on various institutional projects at Ronnette Riley Architect, including leading a project team for University of VA Special Collections Library interior design. Slavica holds Master of Architecture Degree from Ball State University, and Diploma Engineering Degree in Architecture from Belgrade University. She is a registered architect and LEED AP BD+C accredited professional.
Urban Bond Creative started as a collaborative effort to influence urban living in creative ways among different artistic disciplines. Over the years it crystallized as an architectural studio lead by Slavica Nikolic.
